Vanajeevana yajna is a programme undertaken by the Math to save rare plants and trees from extinction. “Greenary is for life, life
is for greenery”.For ecological balance we need 33%
of forest but we have only 9% right now.It is matter of great
concern that about 34,000 varieties of plants, of which 8%
medicinal are facing extinction.Shree Math has taken up the
task of afforestation on a war footing through the efforts
of 66 seema parishaths.More than a crore sapling have been
planted in Shimoga,D.K.,N.K.,Kasaragod & Bangalore.Under
this scheme each person has to plant & maintain minimum
5 sapales a year.Another important aspects of this project
is the conservation & storage of water. This is done through
rain harvest schemes.Initiatives are taken to harvest rain
water in different parts of Karnataka.
