Project Goloka-The Amruthadhara Goshala near Bangalore
Thanks to the magnanimous gesture of a devotee, Shri B.J.Sharma, who has come forward and donated 2 acres of prime farmland, the Swamiji’s Amruthadhara Goshala project has been able to see a humble initiation outside the environs of Hosanagara. On 13th January 2004, His Holiness Swamiji inaugurated ‘Project Goloka’, a cowshed housing 30 native Indian cows, of 12 different breeds, near ‘Pratima Farm’, Dinnepalya, Kaggalipura, Bangalore South District. Plans have been chalked out to develop this region as the only one of its kind ‘Divine Park’, with the cow as the theme, through community participation and funding. The ‘Dharmachakra Trust’, a registered charitable trust formed by His Holiness Shree Shree Shree Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji, is to oversee the development of this project.
In the first phase it is proposed to acquire a further 35 acres of adjacent land and develop 10 cowsheds to house 300 cows. There will be a ‘Gavya chikista Kendra’ attached with Ayurvedic nature cure centre. A medicine preparation plant to manufacture medicines out of cow urine for treatment of chronic diseases like diabetes, cancer, psoriasis, kidney problems, heart problems etc. is proposed. A cottage industry will be set up to manufacture daily use products (out of cow products) like agarbathis, soaps, shampoos, talcum powder, tooth powders, dhoops etc. Contrary to general belief, an Indian breed cow is capable of generating good income.
The second phase of the project aims to transform the place into a ‘Divine Holiday Park’. It will house Shree Swamiji’s Ashram, surrounding which will be meditation and prayer halls, yojna kendras, Gopalkrishna temple, an ayurvedic medicinal plant nursery/ mini forest, herbal lake, Navagraha Vana, apart from cowshed that would shelter over a 1000 cows at various locations. The ambience would be most congenial to enlighten ourselves and improve our lives as it would form a nucleus for information and harmless scientific research on the native Indian cow. Donors as well as the general public would be allowed to visit the park and have a glimpse of its activities. A unique feature of the entire construction will be the use of only eco-friendly materials like sand, rock, mud, lime mortar, hay etc.
