Dhara Goshala - Bajakudlu |
| |
On November 6th 2004 one more Seva
Yojana - Amrutha Dhara Goshala was started at Perla, near Bajakudlu
Shree Mahalingeshwara temple, about 60 Km from Mangalore. The site
is known for grazing land for local breed cow, ‘Malenadu Gidda’
. Hundreds of these cows are seen always grazing in this area. Healthy
cows and bulls are enjoying their day in and around the temple building
. Shree Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji selected this site for Malenadu
Gidda Breed development project . Project Status : Presently a 2000
square feet area building is ready for this Goshala (Cow Shed).
This will house 20 cows & calves. Separate urine distillation
plant and production plant for different products of dung and urine
are also ready for inauguration. The Goshala building is unique as
it is built in the traditional Indian Style. Synthetic materials
such as cement and steel etc. are not used in the construction.
Lime stone and jaggery are used as binding materials. Stone slabs
are used for flooring and stone pillars for weight bearing. Roof
is of clay tiles. Research on medicinal values of urine and dung
will be taken-up here in the future.

| Kasaragodu Breed |
| This breed is closely related to the
famous ‘Vechur’ breed of Kerala. These cows are dwarf
sized, resistant to most diseases , take less food , require minimum
attention, give best quality milk. Now, there are 70 cows. Its tract
is ‘Malenadu’ area (Hilly region) of Karnataka and Kerala. This
breed is dwindling rapidly and is nearing extinction due to large
scale slaughtering for meat. Shree Swamiji has taken keen interest
on this breed and has already announced three Goshalas (Cow sheds)
at different regions to look after them and save them from extinction.
You may recall that Shree Jesudas, the famous South Indian Classical
Vocalist has donated three cows of this rarest breed to the Goshala
of the Shree Math. |

| Amruthasara [Cow urine distill] |
| Distilled urine of Indian Cow Breeds
is a wonderful medicine for many diseases. Ancient Ayurvedic Vaidya
‘Shushrutha’ clearly mentioned about the importance and
use of cow’s urine in medicine. ‘Amruthasara’ (processed
cow urine) is very effectively used in curing Cancer, High Blood Pressure,
Diabetes, Acidity, Pain, Kidney or Liver disorders etc. to name a
few. In future Cow urine can be an excellent source of income for
the people who rear them irrespective of whether it is in the milking
stage or not. We can get milk on limited time, but certainly get urine
throughout |
