Adi Shankara is generally supposed to have been born at Kaladi in Kerala,India,in A.D. 788.His parents Shree Shivaguru and Aryamba were devotees of Shiva. At the tender age of eight ,Shankara Master the four Vedas,and after assuring his mother that he would be at her bedside at her last moment,this great seeker of Truth,went in search of a teacher who would initiate him into Sanyasa and show the way to the Supreme .Shankara found his Guru in Govinda Bhagavatpada.
       Infullfilment of the mandate from his guru to establish Advaitha Vedanta and propagate Sanatana Dharma, Shankaracharya under took the stupendous task of traveling through entire Bharatha kanda and established Maths or monastries at Sringeri,Dwaraka,Badri,Puri and other places for spiritual wellbeing of the people.One among the prominent Maths established Adi Shankara is Shree Ramachandrapura Math, Gokarna. He introduced the Panchayathana pooja i.e.,the worship of 5 deities-Surya,Ganapathi,Ambica,Shiva,Vishnu.
